Walker's Point, Milwaukee: A Neighborhood Guide from Canni
Walker's Point sits just south of downtown Milwaukee, across the river from the Third Ward — about a ten-minute walk from the Milwaukee Public Market. It's one of the city's oldest neighborhoods and one of its most compact: restaurants, gay bars, sports bars, taco counters, and coffee roasters stacked within a few flat, walkable blocks.

Start at Canni
Every good neighborhood day needs a home base, and ours is built for it. Start with espresso, matcha, or a house drink at the infusion bar and cafe — and if you're curious, add an optional botanical, CBD, kava, mushroom, or hemp-derived THC infusion (with age verification). Normal drinks are always on the menu; infusions are add-ins, never the price of admission.

Eat
Conejito's Place (5th & Virginia) — a Milwaukee institution one block from Canni. Cheap, fast, unchanged for decades, plates famously served on paper.
Zócalo Food Park (636 S 6th St) — Milwaukee's original food truck park, two blocks from Canni: a rotating truck lineup, a bar, and outdoor seating. Ideal when a group can't agree on one cuisine.
Odd Duck (939 S 2nd St) — shared plates from a menu that changes constantly, plus serious cocktails. Moved here from Bay View in 2022 and became one of the neighborhood's anchor restaurants.
Camino (434 S 2nd St) — burgers, pub food, and craft beer in a proper neighborhood-bar setting.
Botanas (National Ave) — one of the longstanding Mexican restaurants that made this corridor a dining destination before anywhere else caught up.
Drink
The 2nd Street strip, a short walk from Canni, covers a lot of ground in three blocks.
LGBTQ nightlife. Walker's Point is the heart of Milwaukee's LGBTQ bar scene. La Cage (801 S 2nd St) is the multi-level anchor — dance floor, show lounge, and the attached bar POP. Walker's Pint (818 S 2nd St) has been Milwaukee's lesbian bar since 2001, with bingo, karaoke, and DJ nights. DIX, Fluid, and Woody's round out the strip.
Sports bars. Steny's (800 S 2nd St) is the neighborhood's game-day standby, and Fat Daddy's picks up the late-night crowd.
Not drinking tonight? This is where Canni earns its keep.
